I decided I wanted a winch for my disco, but could not afford, and didnt really fancy a full winch bumper.

I bought a bearmach winch mount and went about fitting the winch.

I had to remove some of the front centre valance for the winch to fit, and in the end removed it all. I then trimmed of the bottom half of the bumper end caps to make it look more level.

I think the end result looks subtle yet effective and with the big tyres and suspension rise it looks nice and BIG!

Your opinions? Should I just get a winch bumper and have done, or is this a better looking option?

The mount was just under £100.

The winch is bolted with four botls to the winch mount, which in turn is bolts with six bolts to the front bumper mounts and then barced back. (see the pic for one side)

£100 just for the bracket "bugger"
fink ill use some of pikeys chassis of his scrap disco !!!:D:D

it really looks a good job,
i wanna get something to pull up tree stumps but don't know what'll do the job on a limited budget,
its good to know i needn't replace bumper,
i was looking on ebay last night at some cheap boat winches at about £60.00 but i don't really trust 'em after stopping and thinking more about it.

thank's for that tomjdale, making some enquiries to find out if my winch will fit the tray also have you tried fitting a steering guard to it yet if it's possible that is?

It is the standard winch fixinf that will fit most winches.

I have not tried fitting a steering guard, and dont see that this would be an issue though?

The steering guard would use the same bolt holes, this may cause a problem fitting one...

Looks to me like a smart solution to wanting a discreet winch, but personally, I would rather not decrease the attack angle, and without the steering guard, there is only the factory tow hook for a recovery point, should you need to double up the power with a snatch block.
