And I have what might be a seemingly obvious question about fitting a winch. Are winch bumpers made specifically to fit certain winches or are they fairly universal?

Generally universal fitting for general winches. If you get anything different, or very expensive like a Superwinch Husky or Warn 8274 then you need different holes and different fittings.

One thing to be wary of if you think of upgrading winches or motors in future that whilst many winches fit 'standard pattern', if you fit a better motor, say a Bowmotor, then you might find it very tight if not impossible to fit without serious mods.

Your best bet is to tell the bumper guys what winch you have and see if it fits, or if they can machine a bumper to suit. In fact, just ask them anyway, unless someone's already got one of these no-one can definitely say if a particular winch might fit!! Anything can be made to fit anything really, depends how much you want to work on it or spend. ;)

Ended up buying the winch bumper from these guys and am extremely pleased. It arrived today after only just ordering end of last week. It was well packaged to avoid any damage during shipping. After unwrapping, I got to see how well made and stunning this bumper was. My hats off to Ian and the guys for fabricating this bumper so well.

They sell other products on their website as well. Price is much cheaper than other similar products you can find but not at all at the sacrifice of quality. I will be ordering something else from them again in the near future.

Well, got the bumper mounted today and it looks great. Not going to put the spots back on. I think it looks better without, I've got the ones on the roof and it blocks cooling to the engine anyways.
