I've tried all of the hints/tips as written up by others, but while it will now initially run the Acrobat app without crashing, it does not display any of the files and it crashes if you try file/open. Very odd.

I've got the same issue trying to use the Jaguar JTIS program.

Being an Apple man, I find it even harder to use RAVE in my house. In the end I just downloaded that Virtual Box software and emulate a genuine WindowsXP machine on my Macbook. It all works flawlessly, and I never have to bother about updates because it's frozen in 1998 forever!

I have VirtualBox with Win 10 on my Linux dual boot too

No need for a VM. Just use the "All Models" version on Mac with Adobe Reader DC.

I don’t have an all models version I don’t think. The VM is actually mostly to run Microcat so I can check my part numbers and stuff. I’ve only ever got that working on a Windows XP machine.

aah yes that makes sense. The version with TSB's is useful as well but is also Windoze only. I have shortcuts to all three on my Win10 laptop. Can't find my Microcat copy, but I'm sure it will surface one day.

Just curious isn't Adobe no longer as go to for windows from 10 onwards. I have a disk for older astronomy instructions on image processing. Microsoft edge bleats I need Adobe yet Adobe no longer available. A third party called Ruffles allow me to view the files. But I read there an issue of backdoor access. So browsers now have been designed to navigate around the Adobe problem.

IMO Edge is pretty poor, I don't use it.

I just took all the Adobe 4 files and pasted them into the RAVE folder so it kept working when I moved from XP to whatever, how ever many years ago that was!
