I don't think it has bent the chassis, and it does still drive, although police insisted it was recovered not driven home.

I think it depends till its assessed by insurance company, but what about seeing about buying it back and fixing it, if its just panel damage ?

Sorry mate but thats alost sure to be a write off. You need to make sure you get the maximum cash payout from the insurance, have a search there are quite a few threads on dealing with the b@5t@rd5. The first decision you need to make is if you actually want to keep the vehicle and is it sensibly repairable.

I thought that would be the consensus. Shame as its my first Land Rover and I was loving it! It goes off road almost daily and was great.
The Kia was definitely much worse off - definitely written off! Everyone ok though!
I'll see what his insurers say. They're hopefully setting me up with an equivalent courtesy car.

I'd say write off.
Recently had a similar thing in a 2006 Audi Q7, little Ka swiped the front corner and took the front wheel off. Insurance repair quote was £13500 for the Audi, Ka written off.
Audi was written off also after quote came through.
What I'm saying is that repair work is VERY expensive these days, whereas you car is probably worth about £4000.
My advice? Play it by ear but mainly aim to get to buy the car back after you've been paid out. Remove the doors, wing and quarter, cut the damaged floor out and weld it all back together with new doors : OFF ROADER!!!!

Write off, done door pillar, most insurance repairers basic hourly rate is £38.00@hour, they will see this as an uneconomic repair!
buy it back yourself and have it done, get on Ebay and buy all the relevant parts quite cheap, most expensive bit is having it painted and door pillar straightened,
you know the car, it nearly 12years old! what have you got too loose????

yeah id say write off, buy it back for as little as you can and break it, or offroad racer or whatever, always wanted to start with a write off and build something

Be interested to know what they give you as equivalent courtesy car mate. Few year back i had top of range v6 3.2 omega wrote off , 3rd parties insurance sent a bloody fiat seicento as equivalent,

It was fitted with chassis mounted side steps! It was 'removed' in the process! Its bent/sheared the mounting points off.
Went to collect stuff from it yesterday. No pics of it with the doors open (they do both open) but the door pillar is definitely bent inwards and the floor pan is bent also.
