Is there anyone in the London area who could weld a new bulkhead outrigger onto my chassis? If you're out there, How much would you charge?

Probably quite a few members in "The London Area" but its a bloody huge area geographically, a more localised idea of your location would be a great advantage???
 
You could bring my mig welder from london down to east sussex and give sirwingalot a bit of welding practice ;) its waiting to finish its journey!
 
That latest chapter in this whole mess is that I found someone who said they could cut the old one off and weld the replacement on for £80.

They were keen to do it at first, although I have been unable to contact them.

I am now back to square one. Someone has offered to lend me a gasless MIG welder, however I don't trust myself to be able to do a good enough job of it. Especially on the underside of the chassis.

It seems everything I do to this project it's one step forward two steps back. I really am considering just scrapping the whole lot. I have had a lot of promises of help with it from people I know and noone has delivered. I suppose that's life though.
 
Stick with it. It is sometimes 1 step forward and two back but there will be break throughs.
There are some days we see things as a challenge and fun yet other days the same thing is nothing but a problem and a liability. It'll be worth it in he end.

If I could weld I would help, but the best I can offer is my finest chemical metal glue!
 
why not just go to a garage, every single garage in the country can weld i imagine. Might cost a few sheets more, but you can make it cheaper by doing some prep work yourself - like removing the old outrigger - less time in the garage = less money you pay!
 
Someone lent me a small mig welding kit, so I may have a go at doing this myself.

However, I can't seem to get a big enough bead of weld out of it at the moment, I will have to have a better look at the settings.

For alignment of the new one, is it simply a matter of scribing a line on the main chassis? The line would be where the front face of the old one was before cutting it off? Then I can line the new one up with that, clamp it in place, tack it and then weld (or I would hope it goes as smoothly as that).
