Can anyone tell me where i can buy rapeseed oil from as im told they run better on that than normal cooking oil according to form some normal veg oil has some foam crap or something in it can anyone shed some light on this please?

The foam crap you mention is anti foaming agent e900. There has been much debate about this .Some say dont use it others say I use it and havn't had any problems so far. This has been going on for some time now and I havn't read one post about someone having engine problems using it. But maybe time will tell

Get veg oil (which is Rapeseed oil) but make sure the calorific value is 900 per 100ml, not 823. If it is 823, this has an anti fomaing additive which they don't seem to have to declare in the ingredients, but which your engine won't like too much of. Asda 1 litre bottles have calorific value of 900 (at £1 a litre) but their 3 litre bottles (at £3.50) have a value of 823 so are not so suitable.

But Odd, tis not much cheaper than diesel at the end of the day, or am I missing summat?
I agree, tis only a saving of about 20p a litre so not all that worth it, but the question was "can i" and the answer is yes, but you don't always get what it says on the bottle!

Sorry Odd, I didn't see the "can I"

Some time ago veg oil was cheap in supermarkets and it would have been worth doing, for a £10 saving is it worth wrecking the engine over? the only way you could save more is if you recycled used oil from the chip shop or somewhere, preferably free......

Asda 3l bottles are 2 for £5 = 84p/l, diesel @ 120/l thats 36p/l of a saving. For those who remember gallons...thats like £1.60 a gallon cheaper!!!

No idea whats in asda 3l bottles but it doesnt make a difference to my brothers 300tdi. He runs it 50/50 on asda oil/diesel as thats the cheapest he can find.

Me, Im still running the buy 1 get 1 free tesco pure sunflower oil (60%) + diesel (30%) + petrol/diesel misfuel (10%)

My son works in a cash and carry and says it doesnt matter which oil, if its on special offer it sells!!! they pour it in to cars/vans/anything that moves in the car park.
