i have some small holes in my passenger foot well and was wondering if i could patch it temporary just to get it through mot with rivetts and some small patch metal or do i have to get a welder in

footwells are not structural so should sufice for short term as long as the piilars are not too bad..

Depends where and on your tester .....some get sniffy if there is weakening in the footwell area within 300 MM of the bulkhead foot mounting as that IS structural ;)

Is not that they are structural but its within a certain distance to a structural mount that still causes failure.

Are the holes small enough to fill with a nut and bolt and two large plate/saucer washers?

Hi, could depend on the tester, as a prescribed area would be within 12'' of a body mount only if the cumulative effect of the corroded area would affect the security of the body (ie if its only corroded around 1 body mount, it should pass. Unless, of course, the corrosion is within 12'' of a steering, suspension or seatbelt mounting point! if so, the only repair that would do would be seam welded repair sections)
Hope that helps!!
