Hi there, re these changes and Disco TDi 300's that came from the factory with cats, does this also apply to the EGR valve and the De-EGR mod? Are these changes mainly related to exhaust emissions, or do they include other mods such as raised suspension, off-road tyres etc?

If they do, this could really muck things up for the heavily-modified cars.

Cheers
Dave

As from 2012, all vehicles fitted with a cat when new will require one for the MOT. Don't know about blanked off/removed EGR valves though.

Am I correct in saying that Diesels don't have cats, they have particle filters?

Would a pipe with no silencer or 'cat' fail an MOT? I'm thinking of fabricating one if I can work out where to put it and hang it.

Or would I have to put the old system back on every 12 months?

Only on vehicles that qualify for a full cat emissions test. Diesels don't.

Some diesels to have a cat to remove CO and HC from their exhaust emissions also they have as part of that cat a particulate filter so all very different fom the cat that petrol vehicles have fitted and which are tested for CO and HC emissions.
