I didn't disagree with you & yes 38s are cheap as chips to fix that's why I mentioned about how greedy a l322 can be with money spending but I still wouldn't go back to a 38 like I wont want a 322 when I get my 405:D

Yes mate but the point is Dopey's missus is complaining about the amount he's spending on his P38. God help him if he gets an L322 and when it does go wrong:drama:

Moving from a P38 to an L322 is a downgrade to a money pit.

Thats my argument to Marie (my wife). She's not in the best position to argue currently with the P38 behaving it'self of late & her brand new Merc being 'examined' at the dealers for the last 7 weeks

Sadly par for the course with Mercs these days.

And most other cars too !
Not so, there are good uns about, the LD Power survey give a reasonable idea. Of course even the good ones have the odd rogue, likewise the bad ones have the ocassional one that works.
Some LR models have come right up in the survey, the L322 is not one of them.
Even the boss of Merc said they were crap since the link with Chrysler and that it would take some years to recover quality and reputation after Chrysler were dumped.

In our case it seems to be a combination of poor quality, incompetent service staff & a non existent after sales service. I would never consider a Merc for a long, long time.
By comparison, when i had the Disco 3 i thought LR service was spot on.

Mate at work got Audi Q5 two weeks ago, 55k on clock. Gearbox failed last week. Audi told him it would have been 10 GRAND to fix if hadn't been for warranty. Frightening

When I had my Jaguar XJS, the service was first class, really put BMW & Porsche to shame:D

Started using my Series 2 to go to and from work in the meanwhile... simple engine 1958 technology, 1 fuse!!! it will do until I sort the P38 out, just got the new rad 2day, waiting for a bottom hose, and then a day off to fix it... I hope and wish, I dont have to do anything on it for another 6 months or I will be in the **** again from SWMBO while I was looking at other cars the tax on them was frightening £800 a year, some well over 1K a year... god strewth its only road tax!!!
