Hi chaps bought or well took a TD5 disco in part exchange on my P38 few weeks back but the temp guage has a bit of a mind of its own here is an idea of what it does...
First start of the day key in starts up all is normal 5 miles down road all is well temp at half way no issues at all what so ever nice hot heaters the lot never goes over half temp ok...
Switch off pop in the shop or something come back out when engine is already up to temp or has been and is still warm etc and 6/10 times when i stick the ignition on ready to start with all the warning lights illuminated before cranking the temp guage goes to current temp for a few seconds then zooms back to below the blue sticks the red over heat light on at the top of the temp gauge unit and stays there, now if i start and drive it basically just stays at bottom no matter how hot or cold the engine is, but if i turn the ignition key off and on again it might reset and go back to normal or it might take 3/4 go with ignition key to reset it to current temp then its fine till its switched off again....
any ideas chaps its not running hot or over heating or anything i can see anyways...
