But why would you want them ? They'd have to be stronger & therefore heavier & would be at risk of hitting things when manouevring

Thank you, reason for enquiry is my elderly father in law doesn't always get a good position with his foot on the existing step so was considering a wider tread.
Weight and width all to be considered though, thank you.
 
My wife also suffers a bit with this. Maybe you could fit a fold down or slide out extension piece. It doesn't have to be the whole length of the step. Depends on whether he is the passenger and you can toddle round and sort it out from him, or if he is drivin it on his own.
