other than they don't have flaps.
are the new engines, gearboxes and the rest of it just as good or does new mean cheap and less robust?
I knew the interior visually is a huge improvement but are they really an improvement overall?
 
come on....I really want to buy one (once I've found the funds) but surely there must be some snags with them?
oh and I know they don't have the 12 seat configuration anymore but there's only 4 of us so shouldn't be too much of a problem.
 
me mates got one, had it nearly a year and done 25k. he loves it and he's had no problems.
however, I have heard of gearbox problems and injector problems.
 
Haven't been in one but I heard the new dash takes up half the legroom.
aye, there's some truth in that. me mates one is a truck cab and I couldn't possibly drive it safely (I'm 6'4").
I understand that the CSWs are better, because no centre bulkhead, but the stealers are buying a lot of MUD rails for larger customers.
 
gearbox is a piece o ****......and personally dunt like the interior....too car-like and the speed hump on the bonnet looks like an after thought and ave erd that the enjin is not the best
 
nah....i think they've lost the plot somewhat....landys have always been attractive coz of their ruggedness.....very basic and spartan. the new one is getting too full of creature comforts.....fancy aircon.....third row seats that will just get in the fooken way.....no more vents below the windscreen....supposedly slick 6 speed box.....electric windows.....its supposed to be a rugged go-anywhere purpose built 4x4....but the city slicker posers are demanding city slicker comforts.....fooken lost its appeal
 
its properly disappointing to think there might be issues with the gear box and injectors. the tuff car seems like it might can sucumbed to the EU and gone a bit soft? I don't know, what next....they'll be making jails comfortable / welcoming.

true....they really got things rite with the 200 and 300TDi.....the TD5 is also ok but yu gotta mother it....now we getting a fooken landy lookalike wif a RR interior.....wen me TD5 finally goes belly up im gonna go slitty with a 70 series toyota cruiser
 
It doesn't really appeal to me. I like me Landy cos it's simple and I can fix it meself. Too much poncey electronics on the new ones.
 
me old landy gets rained on, rained in, muddied up, dusty as hell....its wot its made for...this new thing has got plush fancy pile carpets and leather....fooken wont last a week......wen mine gets a spray down...its sprayed inside and out....its a workhorse....its losing its identity with the new stuff
 
To drive I find them a vast improvement, even turning down the heater in the middle of January!
We, as enthusiasts, may like the basic interior, but buyers were buying Japanese because they are more car like to drive, so I think the new dash was the right thing to do. I can understand the leg room comment, but at 6 foot, I haven't found it a problem.
It's all well and good hankering after the simplicity of a Tdi (I think they're complicated compared with a good old 2 1/4) but they couldn't be legally sold. Blame the EU, not LR!
 
Mate of mine has one for work - no towing, easy life, only off road is on 803 hardcored sites and in under 30K miles it's had 2 new gearboxes, new computrickery machine, both front windows packed up and it conked out on him twice at random times at 75 on the A30. Rover ain't clever enough to try and be clever, that's the beauty of them and also their downfall!

2 new gearboxes - what can't he drive:) :confused:

that doesn't sound very promising. on the electrickery side and engine you'd have thought they'd be sorted if its from the Ford transit?
