Excuse the ambiguous title but after weeks and weeks of searching im still lost as to why Defender 110's (1988-1995) have such a steep price difference between them...

I've owned my 1992 110 V8 3.5 County for the past 4 years and loved it but I'm wanting a 130 pickup for work & I can't afford to keep the 110 so I've decided to sell but im seriously struggling to put a price on my car!!

I'd find a much much cleaner example than mine with a diesel engine listed for 6k then I find a tired example with a V8 Petrol engine listed for 20+??

Can someone please explain to me as im really baffeld at the price difference and is it really worth swapping my 110 for a 130 300tdi??
Thank u!

There's the realistic price and there's the chancers that are trying to capitalise on the Defender price hike at the ceasing of production. It's the really late models that make the money. I'd put yours on EBay for 99p and watch what happens.
All depends on condition and mileage.

I noticed this as well, yesterday a nice 2005 110 XS SW sold on Ebay for £12,000 and the various dealers who advertise in magazines or on Ebay etc are advertising similar ones for £15-20,000.

Thank you for replying to my thread guys, and in a way your all right but with the amount of research I've done suggests that because its over 25 years old it's exempt from US Saftey regulations and therefore can be easily registered. But that still doesn't explain why any 110 being a pickup or sation with a V8 petrol engine is nearly double any other 110 identical to it apart from it being Diesel

You just have to keep looking, eventually one will become availible at a reasonable price.
You could also make a silly offer for an over priced one if its been for sale for a while ;)
