When i was driving my SIII years ago i found that if id stopped with the bonnet up or the jack out sooner or later a series landy would stop to see if i needed help,,, all series owners would wave or nod when you met head on... Ive noticed that Range/Disco drivers dont even look at each other,, Why the differance, are we Range/Disco drivers so blessed we can ignor the world, have we been touch by the hand of God... Well hand of God or not I stop for any landy in trouble,,, I Remember my Roots and good roots they were.

My Range Rover is realy a Series I in a party frock

S'just how it is really. I'd say the majority of people driving modern Discos and RRs don't know much about the enthusiasm for Land Rovers, while most people driving Series and (although less so) Defenders are enthusiasts and hence the care/help/acknowledgement of fellow enthusiasts.

There are of course exceptions, like yourself. Just like there are also exceptions where some people who drive Defenders have no idea why they get waved at all the time.

Generally the ones driving brand new ones, or those who drive them for a company aren't up with the whole waving thing.

Then there are the Disco/Rangie drivers who DO wave at you in your 'fender, and you think, 'ponce', but wave back anyway

I do like getting waved at though, cheers me up a bit on my morning commutes

I will always stop to a Landy with the bonnet up, be it Freelander or Range Rover and all points in between.

If the owner is not that way inclined when you do, then they usually are by the time you finish

i was on the hard shoulder of the m61 the other day for 1 hour and 40 mins with my little man

11 fenders went past
loads of gay landers
22 disco's

i did get a comment off one of the manchester off roaders
Oh no! I saw you on the hard shoulder but couldn't pull over cos the bloke that was driving wouldn't stop. If I'd been in my landy I'd have stopped, laughed at you for a bit then helped you out.

as for the wave
there is a fella down the road from me with a 110 if he sees me out in my 90 he waves but if he sees me in the disco he will not wave

I've stoped and helped a few a Broken 90 on a roundabout,
a Shogun/Pajero that had found a ditch, and some other motors and I wave at anything with the green oval on it

and I drive a Disco TD5

It's not just Land Rovers. I drive classic Saabs and would always expect acknowledgement from other classic Saab drivers at the right times. Not from newer Saab drivers though.

Something to do with the fact that people driving classics are usually doing so because they want to but people driving modern cars are just driving a car.

My aunt drives a classic Saab and when her tyre went flat on the motorway she was stopped by the side of the road and another classic Saab driver stopped to change the wheel for her.
