When i put my side lights on the engine loses power and chugs along but when i turn them off the car runs spot on.On checking the lights the brake lights come on when the side lights are on and when pressing the brake pedal the dash board back lights come on . Ideas please , could it be earth fault ??. I know the easy solution just drive in day light.

Had this before it was wrong bulb fitted in rear lights, single contact instead of double. If it's not that then look for some other short circuit in the rear light wiring.
Weird I know but it does affect the voltages at the pump.

Thanks Chaser , i had fitted the correct bulb but the filements where welded to gether so fitted a new bulb and problem gone! I can go out at night now!.

i have had the same problem with the bulb fusing together and causing a loss of power when the light are turned on its a strange one but obviously more common than i first thought
