I have said defender

It's alright and has the usual tratter niggles ie wet leg, not particularly quiet and my future plans were galv chassis, bulkhead new doors and fairly soon a discovery transfer box.
Because I'm to tight and don't want to spend £100 on just a transfer box my plan was to buy a mot failure Disco and strip it sell off the bits and effectively get the transfer box for free. So I've just purchased this for £510 off ebay.

I've just been to pay the guy and it looks rock solid and way to good to break. In fact I'll be taking it straight for its mot the day I collect it.
I'm also slowly doing up a 2a in theory to sell once it's done as I thought my kids would never be seen dead in a land rover, but evidently my youngest wouldn't mind driving the 2a if we keep it.

And so my dilemma..
Sell the Disco for the cash, do up the series to give me the funds to sort the defender and buy a kids run around or...
Sell my defender and keep the discovery and use the cash to sort the series and keep it.
I like having the ability to chuck basically anything in the back which would wreck the Disco and I couldn't justify keeping the defender and a series as they are pretty much the same.
Unlike some people a defender isn't my dream car sorry

Good or bad shed me some light of your endless wisdom

Don't ask cos I wouldn't be allowed back on here:oops:

I have vowed to buy another when I could afford to run one (360cid) but two teenagers has put pay to that. It's the only car I've ever been scared to drive and I miss it everyday :(

Thanks for your confession! :D Might as well put my hand up as well, and admit I have often been tempted by an old Land Cruiser.:oops:
Lot of my Saffer and Aussie mates really like theirs, both IRL and on the forum.

Long story, but apart from the injuns, they are a better and more honest vehicle than a Defective. And I think the introduction of model names was the end of a proud tradition for landrover.
And, see above!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^. Honest! ;)

The 2a would pretty much do everything my defender would but I don't know as I'd want to drive it everyday. Like the defender it's unaffected by depreciation

For me, 2a, especially 88 canvas top, is THE classic landrover! My series were fantastic on forestry work, in the hardest conditions. And the canvas back gives all kinds of load carrying options.

It's a tin top currently with a cat flap
