hi, i'm hoping someone on here can help, when i'm towing my caravan with my 94 300tdi and use the indicators there's no buzzing like when i'm towing with my other car, can anyone help ? i hope this makes sense
regards :scratching_chin:

praps it's not fitted with a warning buzzer, or it is faulty ?

do you get the warning light come up on the dash ?

Buzzer and or Light, Your trailer light should flash, easy way to check is to switch the bulb with one that is known to work then go from there as its not an easy reason for the light not to work, Are your trailer light working correctly and are the contacts clean and secure??

thanks for the replys, all lights work on the caravan when checked before driving its just that theres no buzzing or light on the dash to say there working when im on the move , is it a mot fail ?

ya should have a trailer light on dash between the clocks..

mine flashes once when no trailer attached, but continueosly with indicators with trailer attached.. i think..

not towed mi van for a year or so, but thats what i remember...

far as i'm aware its not a testable item.
do you have led lights in van, or bog standard lamps?
led's can cause a problem as not enough load to operate tell tale on dash.
my 97 disco has dash light but no buzzer. and the light only works intermittently.

i know it flashes once when no trailer connected but not noticed when connected to trailer, will try it tomorrow
regards

According to a quick google your car should have an audible repeater if it was fitted with a trailer since the late 80s...

Does your car have a towing box, or is it wired directly into the loom?
If it's got a box, does the box have a buzzer in it?
If there is a 'speaker' on the box is it face up, or face down? (I couldn't hear the one on my car until I turned the box over)
If it's a box, has it got wet at some point? Water can destroy some speakers.

Nope Disco & defender has a tell tale light on dash. NO buzzer. Halfords sell a buzzer box, that you can wire into the existing wiring.

Hmm so the bulb works as it does the 1 flash when you indicate ( that threw me when I got mine) Does it flash when you have your hazards on?? Mine does.

Wondering if any connections or wires have gone awol lol Do you know how the trailer wiring is connected to the landys wiring??

trailer socket cabling connected inside off side rear quarter panel, there's a dedicated
socket for it. assuming its not an after market fitment, in which case it could be all over!
no idea where the load sense unit is, would have to look in manual, which i dont have at mo.
presume the lights on back of van all work?

Mine are wired individually into the wires on my OSR but with the stock landy pullet male and females with a couple of triples.

I dont know of any load sense devices built in and cant say ive seen any on the vehicle or on wiring diagrams.
