Does anyone know why on some start ups vehicle bleeps twice as there doesn't seem to have any faults listed

I read somewhere on the internet that it will beep 3 times if all checks are performed ok. If I turn the ignition key and let all the lights go out before starting mine (04 TD5) I always here 3 beeps. I sometimes here 2 beeps if I'm in a hurry, and if I go without letting all the lights disappear then it won't beep.

So it's that, or it's broken and it's trying to tell me something.

darrenm - I get one bleep, but not every time. I thought it may be that whilst turning the key I press one of the key buttons and that causes it. Or perhaps it is because I engage the starter motor whilst it's trying to do something such as checking lights. Anybody know?

Don't D2 owners ever read their Owners Handook because if you did you would find this.

"Three warnings may also be heard during engine start-up as part of the ABS system self-checks. This is normal unless the ABS warning light stays illuminated after the engine is running."

There's as also a bit more info on AUDIBLE WARNINGS in the Handbook and also on faulty ABS.

I've read mine but must have missed the 3 chimes bit so did the search on here instead - far quicker :D anyhow 3 chimes is normal as is the clunky noise under the brake pedal, which I couldn't find in the manual either; reckon mines got pages missing :bounce:

So its been a while since the last post but thought id share my experience.

The 3 chimes happen everytime i start up my 04 TD5 along with a noise from the brake pedal. If the pedal is under pressure you will feel a cranky resistance for no more than a split second.

From what i have read on forums this is the ABS kicking in and if the 3 chimes are not accompanied with a warning lamp there is nothing to worry about.

Also has OBD2 plugged it and no codes popping up!

driving along,3 chimes, dash like a Christmas tree, got home, switched off for half hour, started up again, all dash lights went off one by one, back to normal,a bit of sh@t in its eye???
