My old Disco has just passed it's MOT.

I think of all the used cars I've had (and there have been lots) this is the first time one has passed first time. And it has been all my own work. In recent months I have changed discs and pads, new head gaskets, replacement hoses, redone the handbrake and lots of other things I can't remember because I am too excited.

Next on the list is a total lubrication & grease change and some bodywork titivating (oo err missus!)

Nice one, i've got my MOT next month and im st1tting it, out of all the cars i've owned in the past this one makes me nervous

Good luck cornish,mine just passed again,but it needed welding-pricey,(takes mental note,must learn how to weld)-but all legal for another 12 months

if youre a handy sort of person (doesnt get paint on glass when painting window frames, can cut paper in a straight line, is good with a hand saw etc etc) then you will pick up mig welding very quickly.

it does not require much knowledge, and the skill will come after a few hours practice.

there are various publications including haynes which make for good reading.

I'm an accountant (but don't tell anyone). I'm not supposed to be handy.

Actually I fair pretty well in the DIY stakes so I'm hoping to pick it up reasonably quickly.

We should all have a welder money permiting, people seem to think it's very hard it's not, it's very satisfying to see the end result of your hard work. My welding isn't always very nice to look at but it all stays together.
