hi
pulled off the motorway yesterday in my 2000 td5 defender after about 20 mins of motorway driving. pulled out of the junction with a loud whooshing noise coming from the engine bay. it does it when you rev the engine so nothing to do with the drive train. it sounds like its the fan turning far to fast. has anyone else experienced it cheers jack

Supresser cable on the alternator made me have a woosh/ whisle through the speakers. When it came off.

My 2000 110 did a major 'turbine' woosh, the viscous fan was seized/locked - esp pulling off in first. New unit fixed it - worth a look, see if fan rotates under finger pressure (engine off, cold and keys out of ignition......). if solid then nadged? good luck, A

Right fitted new viscous fan today and noise is still there. Is there another bearing on the shaft the fan sits on ????
