My '76 petrol SWB has been chipped and i'm certain it goes faster !!

I smear the chip fat onto the propshaft ;)

I'm confused. I'm not sure how that exhaust is going to fit in a vehicle, but what's the the point? Someone has done the easy bit, it will produce pressurised air, but what happens to it? The aim of a turbocharger is to get the pressurised air into the engine, otherwise you may as well use it to pump air into the heater.
I'm sure I read of a turbocharged 2 1/4 petrol in Autocar back in the '70s, so nothing new.

not enough detail in the picture there to see how thatd work. Also the bloke selling it dont seem to have a clue

Ere drippy aint the 2.5 petrol and the TD ( not TDi) got the same block? I am sure i read that both the petrol and doizil used the same block, in which case connecting the turbo int gonna be difficult. Its getting the air in throgh a carb thats gonna be difrunt.

That could well be a cockup, it is possible that the diesel turbo can be used on a petrol and give lots of power and use the original carby (you'd have to configure it as a 'downstream' or blow through the carb, as the diesel turbo oil seals are not designed to be subjected to vacuum, the other thing is the 'AR' ratio of a diesel turbo is probably totally incorrect for the petrol), but to do that at the very minimum you would need low compression pistons, if you just bolted on a charger you'd get pre ignition at anything above very low boost pressure blowing holes in the pistons and melting valves.
I suspect this guy has bought this thing off someone who's just bolted it on, the petrol manifold can be fitted to the 200 tdi, people have done it with the 200tdi conversion, so I'd think from that the tdi manifold would fit the petrol, thats what this probably is with turbo.
Without knowing the engine has been prepped for a turbo, which we dont I'd advise anyone to keep clear.
Andyb from whatsits motorsport would probably know how it should be done.

I don't think so. Long time since I looked at one but I think the TD block has an additional hole low down beneath the manifold for the oil return (? I think, but could be feed) from the turbo.

interesting drippy, glad its been stored in the dry ,looks ex mill , with the 8 blade fan, got to be worth £100 of anyones money , even if yer stripped it and rebuilt it, minus the make believe turbo,
the whole job looks rough mind. might arange to have a look at it ;) only down the road int it!

The oil feed for the turbo is not really the problem, when tuning cars you can use a T piece on the oil warning light for the feed, and fit a bulkhead fitting in the sump direct as a return (sometimes a restictor is needed).
Comprssion ratio is the issue with this, and the Ar ratio will produce boost at low revs being designed for the tdi, the petrol will be getting boost at 3000 revs, about a 4 strokes max torque, not a good idea thats how you put a leg out of bed.
