afetr getting my car back from the garage i sent it to after i lost my rag with it it came back today and continous white smoke and wont go above 2000 rev even after changing gear any ideas what white smoke from exhaust is?

all knowledge of this is in my other post that started all this problem 300tdi problems

Could the timing be slightly out, my 200tdi conversion was smoking heavily after a timing belt change as was very slightly out, slight adjustment and was fine

Blown turbo if iirc would be blue smoke(oil) black smoke is unburnt diesel. white smoke can sometime indicate water coolant h/g. i've seen blocked air filters do this on times

Black smoke is over fuelling. White smoke can be incorrect fuelling, ie timing out! It depends on the eyes of the person looking as to what colour they think it is so can't always go strictly on grey blue black white! One a while back complaining of white smoke and it turned out to be excessive cylinder wear which you don't expect to be white but it may have been his idea of white smoke? initially personally I'd check pump timing cos that is a major known cause of white smoke on them then take it from there. (assuming its smoke not steam)!

Maybe i could have worded my post alittle better then as i was referring to steam rather than smoke. Mine used to smoke very heavy black due to faulty injectors, once that was sorted it was then blue due to blown turbo. Got alot of white grey smoke/steam when the head was warped, yes all in the space of 3 weeks.

Oh ****!

with all the problems your all saying i think i may aswel just send the engine back because why should i sort it now as it still in the warrenty i have on it

Glad it's sorted. I have a question regarding white smoke too.

When I start the engine up it's absolutely fine, but maybe after about 2 or 300 yards down the street I get some white smoke but it's not a massive amount, and disappears within about 5 minutes of driving.

Is this normal or is the motor developing a more serious problem?

Cheers.

It's a 300TDi by the way.
