Hi, I've just bought a Series 3 109 pickup.

It was running fine when I got it, but two days later the head gasket went (big chunk blown out the back of number 4). I've changed the gasket and there is still white smoke billowing out of the exhaust.

Assuming the head was warped, I took it off again, but the new gasket shows no signs of a blow, the oil and coolant are clean, and I'm fed up (it's ****ing down, and I've been at this for three days).

The engine is a 2.25 petrol (ex military radio truck with 24V Electrics and shielded cabling everywhere), and it seems smooth enough.

Does anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks for that, but next time a little less heavy on the technical details and space-age terminology.

Not necessarily

Check the head by using a steel rule and a feeler gauge around 0.010 inches is ok.

Then look at oil /water
