Ouch, I guess this is one ****ed off Rangie owner:

Can anyone advise the weather in SW England at the moment Bristol/Bath area, and rural Zummerzet, have mixed messages and forecasts, reason I ask is need to pick up some possesions and probably hire a car, which will be a Ford Focus or whatever. Will not feel confident after the luxury of a land rover (And remembering to drive on the other side of the road), am wondering if I should postpone the trip?

Where and when are you heading this way.

Main roads are all clear in Bristol, Bath and also North Somerset.

Back lanes and side roads are pretty sporty but are beginning to melt.

What kind a sporty???

You been hobnobbing again???:D:D:D

Thanks Ratty,

Its a last minute thing, flying out tommorrow. If anyone sees a hire car in a ditch in somewhere in Zummerzet, facing the wrong way, its probably me, so give a hoot!!! :D

If you get stuck in a ditch in the Bristol, Bath or North Somerset area it will probably be me that comes to pull you out.

If yer flying into Lulsgate (Bristol Airport) you are fine to cut across from Lulsgate bottom to Winford down the lane but avoid ALL other backlanes in the area. They are ALL bad.

You sorted out your water heater then??

Yes fanks. I've been using my landy for work for the last 8 days now so am glad it's working ok. The urn has been running around 12-18 hours a day non stop.:)

Have you wired yours up to a switch in the cab save having to keep getting out to turn it on??

No. One day I'll get around to fitting a heavy duty relay and switch to it but at the moment I just turn it on when I get into my landy and turn it off when I get out.

I need to put my leccy heater on a switch too cos it's a pain in the arse leaning into the back to turn it on.

Just for your info expat. The lanes by Lulsgate are still bad. I'm just off out to tow another car 3 miles out.

Yay, returned home alright, wiv all my crap, weather was not as bad as anticipated, so, thanks for all the info - was useful and reassuring.

Fook knows how many time from junctions went on the other side of the road, looks on the other drivers faces  :D
