What causes the strange whirring noise from the back of a Disco 2 when the ignition is on, I was checking the lights, and other things, and this whirring noise seems to come from somewhere under the body, it sounds like some sort of servo motor. (TD5 T-reg)

possibly the fuel pump

As above - the fuel pump is inside the diesel tank.

You should only be worried if you DON'T get a whirring noise!
Every time you switch the ignition on the fuel pump primes the system.
