Hello friends, Today should have been a good day with the eventual replacement of the crumbling 110 rear crossmember. But as these things go all is not well. After the welder had fitted the new crossmember and as I set off there was a significant whining noise from over my left shoulder. It remains while driving although there doesn’t appear to be any impact on the running. From what I’ve been reading as I scan for the potential source, the fuel pump and/or it’s straining to deliver fuel is a most likely culprit. The welder had advised I let the fuel go low in anticipation of his work beginning and, he notably mentioned he had to put some diesel in in order to get it running after the start. If there is a problem with the fuel, given the tank refitting, what is the chance of it being an easy fix? Will a “ purging” of the system be a cure?
