Firstly I apologise for my first post being a question....

I hope someone can help, we have just bought a 2000 (W) 1.8 Freelander and when you accelerate there is a whining noise that seems to come from the front, but if you let off the accelerator the noise goes, has me stumped:confused: sounds a bit like a turbo noise but I know someone has not fitted one on!!

Hopefully it won't be too bad!!!

I fink you'll find that is the engine. Great Sound and very reliable from a 1.8

sirus ye bugger ye just made me spit me coco pops all over the place you should warn people before saying such funny things

ooo! what a palavver, don't think i can be bothered to do them all,

i know i'll stick one big one one here and that should cover it

Thas a lie that is... I've seen you drive your 110 and accelerate is completely out of the question!

I used to get a whine on acceleration when I had a MR2 Turbo... the fix was really simple.

1. Pull over to the left

2. Switch off engine and get out of car.

3. Walk around to the near side and open passenger door.

4. Say the words "GET THE FVCK OUT BITCH!" very loudly...

5. Get back in the drivers seat, start engine and drive as normal, miraculously the whine would completely dissappear for a good 30 miles or more.

CAUTION: This fix may seriously degrade your sex life!

No need... already told her that in the car a minute ago.

It wasn't her in the passenger seat above :D
