Hi, well couple of nights back a whining noise started when in any gear and only when i lift off the gas. But i can hear it a little now when giving it a foot full in 2nd-3rd, but all the time on lift off. Does it from cold or hot, and stops when i dip the clutch. I've just changed the rear axle oil seal AFTER the noise started so oil and prop seam ok from handbrake back.
Do you think it might be gearbox? i'm unsure as it happens in all gears.
Not sure how to check the gearbox oil, but i'll check manual and get it checked.
I also had it in dead muddy water couple weeks back. Was fine for about a week after that tho. Alto i didnt have my breather kit fitted then tho:(

What should i check and how do you check it? I'm ok ish with working on my car, i just dont know what i'm looking for.

On another note, had a quote for £130-£140 for timing belt fitted on a 200TDI defender. Sound about right?

Thanks guy:)

Sounds like gearbox or transfer box are low on oil, top those up first and see if it still makes the noise

A whinging noise? You got a wife and/or kids? Check there first.
My first thought, so i kicked her out and went for a spin. Could still hear it so turned my phone off. Its a lot quiter but still whines ;)

Gona check the oil, didnt get a chance today.
