Hi all,
Have bought me a 2001 Freelander. Listed with the car was a whiny centre bearing. I notice in the history one bearing was changed a few years ago (Not sure why you would change just one!). The prognosis of centre bearing sounds feasible, but I am wondering if anybody has any other ideas as what could be wrong?

It's a cheap part, so will do it anyway, though I'm not looking forward to removing the drive shaft.*

Common reason for doing one is that the VCU joint will only split one end !!! Mine took a garage 10 tonne puller to get it off. Also - my bearings when failed made more noise on corners. Good luck...

Thanks Andy. Haven't noticed it particularly worse on corners, though will keep my ears peeled as it were. It is more intrusive at low speed, becoming higher pitch and easier to ignore at high speed!
