Hi, would just like your thoughts on this.

The car has started to make a small whining noise between 55mph and 65mph. I've had the car up on a ramp to try for wheel movement as I thought it could have been a wheel bearing but it's not that.

My next thought was a diff or the transfer box!!!!!

Any body had a similar noise or experience and barring taking the thing to bits how can I test it. It terms of driving it makes no difference as to if i'm driving in a straight line or going round corners. If I hold the speed at 60mph but go up and down the gearbox using the maual side of the box the nosie stays the same.

I can definatley here my wallet crying because it thinks it's gonna be expensive to fix.

Doesn't matter how much fuels in it the sound is always there.

Have you tried greasing the props? (There are suitable grease nipples.)

Does the noise change when you go from drive to overrun?

You don't have the dreaded Goodyear Wranglers fitted, do you?

But seriously does the tone change with speed or is it constant?.

I think the tyres are Michelin. Deffo not Goodyear.

The noise is only there between 55 and 65ish MPH, and it does change a little as you get quick or slower but not drastically, its just speeded up. It's a cross between a whine and a werrrring. Nosie on the overun is no different to that of at constant speed

I've only had the car a few months and wasn't aware of the grease nipples, with have a look tomorrow (day off)

The misus only whines when she has to pay the fuel bill lol.
