So,

What would be a reasonable set up without going to mega bucks,

I'm thinking going electric with dual battery system but what would be the most practical set up for a d.i.y project.
where do i fit the extra battery on my p38 tdi ?

The Goodwinch Goldfish series has a very good reputation and they aren't too pricey new. 8274 has a very good reputation and can be modified as you progress. They hold their value well also.
