I find the saddles on the halfords jacks far too small.
I have one of these:
Clarke CTJ2001G 2 Tonne Trolley Jack - Machine Mart
Had it for years and never let me down.
Don't forget that just because the car is 2.25tonne it doesn't mean your lifting 2.25tonne, your lifting one corner, not the entire car.
Also, a decent 2tonne jacks do not tend to bend, regardless of what other members of the forum might tell you!!!!
Halfords | Halfords Advanced 2.25 Ton 4x4 Trolley Jack
Looks like its in offer at the moment. I've got one and it does the job well.
Who said anything about decent?????
Trying to lift any large 4x4 with a substandard jack is both pointless and dangerous. Invest in good tools for the job and do it right.
Also using a correct jack takes less time to do the job as everything is big and long enough to deal with the requirements.
Seen too many cocks ups using not fit for purpose tools.
So although some members will tell you a 2 tonne jack is good enough just think about what you are trying to achieve and consider if the consequences are worth the short cut.
