that's where u can't turn it off isn't it, comes on automatically to help defrost the windscreen in cold weather
That's correct. The 2 settings to the far right which are windscreen/ floor and windscreen only, automatically put the AC on. The only way to stop the AC from running is to turn the booster fan to the "0" (off) position.

What else could it be if all settings are off
Do the fans run when they should. Either with the AC or the engine hot?
If so, I'd not be worrying about it. It could be just a self test at start up. From memory my last ZS180 did a quick blast of the fans at startup. They worked as and when they should have.

T Reg 1999 .what I have noticed is glow plug light stopping on longer and taking a bit longer to start again and after the fan stops the idle goes up for about 19 seconds and the fan kicks in again .After about 10 minutes the fan stops and goes back to normal. After 3 hours of the engine cooling down no fans kick in on start up and turns over no problem.Could it be an ECU problem ?
