A little while ago I spotted one of the parts suppliers were doing a red key isolator within a black recessed box that you cut into the seat box so that the key couldn't be knocked and I thought it would look quite neat fitted. Planned to buy one. Now I can't find it again anywhere. Can anyone else remember seeing these? I could have sworn it was Mud but no sign now??

Anyone help?

Really?! I can't find a single one of the type I mean in the box that you cut into the seat box. Do you have any item numbers I could search with?

That's stupidly expensive and it's not up to handling the starter........

It's ok if you split the feeds and take just the starter directly but obviously the starter will not be isolated just everything else.

Thats only rated a 100 Amps, pretty sure the starter will drag a lot more than that?

Very difficult for any ordinary switch to handle the cold cranking current drawn by the starter. I have one of those Discarnect battery isolators that has a screw down knob with heavy brass surfaces and a bypass fuse to maintain alarm current and central locking etc. On several occasions I have got into my landy, turned they key, heard the fuel pump start, waited for the glow plug light to go out, operated the starter - a slight click then totally dead - no power to any circuits.

Checked the battery isolator and was screwed down tight, but tried to tighten more and power was restored. Always totally amazed when this happens as the contact services were clean with no oxidation.
