hello all. got a 98 range rover 2.d DSL with an after market stereo unit in, it has a full standard harmon kardon speaker system with sub in boot and clarion cd changer which doesnt work because its not compatible, and neither do the steering controls, i want to change back to the standard head unit, how do i find out which head unit was originally fitted? If it helps the vehicle radio loom has a pink iso connector.

with the HK system the head unit will be either Alpine or Clarion even tho the CD changer in the boot is Clarion.

Best thing would be to ring one of the P38 breakers (or try e-bay) and pick up a head unit from a breaker, just make sure you get teh 4 digit code with it as well
 
Chris just spotted 2 on e-bay mate , I got a few other bits I need before I replace the head unit, Happy bidding
 
Yea I agree analogue is so much better quality, same as digital TV there playing off quality for more channels and user/listener numbers, so quality comes last
 
all i meant was that the analogue signal will soon be ceased, nothing was said with regard to quality
 
thanks for all the help, just done a bit of research and digging around, it seems the head unit i want that fits to the pink iso connector is the clarion pu9836, any one got one for sale?? LOL
 
Thought it was only the Analogue TV signal going not the Radio too...

If so why are modern vehicles still being sold with FM/AM stereos and not DAB??

Dam that's a good question!! so everyone can make more ££ out of screwing us over..... ?
 
why would you like to have original radio? it is a little bit out of date :D
when i bought rangie that was one of the first thing that i replaced :D
i bought new alpine radio with bluetooth and with external mic for hands free calling, usb in, aux in, cd mp3(on one cd with mp3 you can have alot more music than on 6 cds with wma), ipod in....sound quality is much beter too
i replaced all speakers too because mine were crapy (HK but in poor condition) but i still use HK amps in first doors..i miss controls on wheel but i wouldn"t go back on standard radio:D but that is just mine opinion...
 
Crazy thing is there going for £100 + and like £15 P&P ^^^ so what are you doing selling for £30 :D
