Hi All,

Second post now great forum.
I now find myself with three vehicles and as a relatively young driver old insurance is pretty steep and I can't bring myself to continue to insure them all at £800 odd a piece. So one has to go. I have a 2017 4x4 Dacia duster which is my reliable daily drive for large numbers of work miles which will have to stay. The others consist of the following:
- Bog standard 2002 discovery td5 140k immaculate condition
- quite modified 1987 defender 300tdi conversion with discovery lt77, fairy PTO Driven winch, 1.5inch lift on HD springs, bull bar roof rack 34inch special track tyres and so on. Good condition but could have money spent on it.

I do some green Laning but not masses really the land rovers are for my personal use towing and general enjoyment
Its a hard decision as the disco is a LOT more comfortable and quicker than the defender which frankly gets unbarable above 40mph and is probably as capable as it with tyres and perhaps a small lift. and although I of course look after it also so cheap it's almost disposable so if i kept it I'd pocket a lot bigger chunk of change selling the defender. But the defender is infinitely cooler, better when I do go of road it's more entertaining if less practical.

What would all you do it's getting to me!

Thanks

Keep the facial for comfort and unreliability and the defender for sadomasochistic driving and reliability :)

Or is that the other way round :D

Edit- autocorrect changed 'dacia' to 'facial' shame to change it

It sort of is if I'm honest but I am a fan of both and its hard to justify keeping the defender which is probably 5-6ks worth while the disco is objectively a lot better car for 2k. My mind changes depending on which I'm driving!

If it's the dacia and 1 landy you've gotta keep the defender. @Mackers will wave like fook at ya if he sees ya :p

I have considered selling the dacia, but to be honest it's a great car - much better than i expected it to be will get a decent way of road And gets 55mpg I wouldn't chose it if I could only have one vehicle but its got my respect. There's loads out here in mid Wales. Reminds me of a new version of my old shogun pinin which was my first car.

Keep the defender! It’s the only vehicle with a cult following that will also increase in value and enjoyment! If you sold it, you’d only regret it.

Sell the Dacia. After all, who names a car after a cleaning cloth???

55 mpg? That's like being able to levitate.

So, can you drive the Dacia outside of work?

If you tow more than greenlane then you have to compromise on the vehicle, and a fender set up for GL and P&P is not a compromise.

Cheers

Yeah I own the duster can drive it whenever but it doesn't get much use unless I'm going a big distance. I probably tow more than green lane. The discos definitely a lot bette at it but it's not a massive concern as most of what I tow is small agri machines quads grey fergies etc its rare I go above 1.5 -2 tonnes which both can handle without major worries

Good call on keeping the Defender. And you can us the cleaning cloth, I mean duster, to run up the miles.
