It's been a little over a year now since I changed my suspension. I used cheap Terrafirma all terrain shocks at £25 each. Now I haven't had any problems and they've taken everything i've thrown at them but I must say unless the vehicle isn't loaded up they aren't half stiff. You go over a bump without being loaded up and it's like coming i for a hard landing on a jumbo jet!

Question being - what is the best shock out there for the money that's going to give a good ride loaded up and empty? I suppose a better emphasis being on empty as that's what it is most of the time. I am using standard 90 springs

Cheers.

The ride can be a bit bouncy and harsh at times - as in poor damping perhaps. I am running standard 90 springs, not anything heavy duty. Perhaps springs are the cause but I can't see how.

I run Spax gas dampers with standard springs and think they would suit your needs, cheers.

They're expensive! For that price £120+ I know what i'd get! I was thinking something a little more... Affordable at the moment. Bilstein ones for £50 ish seem like a good buy but want some good recommendations first.

****part at £12.50 a corner for the rears on my 110 are a bargain and I've not experienced any harshness. Not loaded the back up yet, though?

I have Pro comp all round with standard springs. Some people take the Micky out of them but I can only speak as I find. And they have been great. Recently completed a 7000 Kilometer trip down to Spain and across Morocco & the Sahara fully loaded without any problems. I don't know what were on before but they were much firmer. When fully load with firewood the old ones didn't move where as the Pro Comp are softer, but I have got used to them and they are fine. For the price I think they are very good value.

Just to give you some idea of the terrain we crossed and believe me it was fully loaded.

Cheers for the feedback guys - thinking of it the pro comp ones are more off road orientated so likely to be softer. I'll check em out.

That is steep, did not pay anywhere near that but it was three years ago.

Dont forget its a commercial vehicle and its designed to carry some weight, so I would still be looking for softer springs to suit your needs or a nice Skoda!

I did a lot of looking around when I replaced the shocks on my 110. I hate paying out for stuff twice. Or having to do the work twice. I went with Koni Heavy Tracks and I couldn't be happier.
They are adjustable also so you can set the ride from soft to hard.

Hijacking the thread a little bit here but i'm looking to get some new shocks and springs on my 90 as well i've heard Monroe are good at £30 a corner. Is anyone running these that can confirm or deny?

I might be having to start towing in the future so might be sticking with the current setup after all. We shall see.
