Hi all,
I had my sunroof seals fail, and now the remote unlocking no longer works. I'm betting the receiver which is between the sunroofs has failed.

Since it's a bit of a nightmare taking the roof lining down, I wanted to get a replacement part rather than have the roof in pieces while waiting for the part to come. Thing is, there seem to be two models, so I'm wondering which one will fit my 2001 Discovery 2 ES:

Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 Alarm remote receiver YWY100410 433MHZ Fits Rover 75 | eBay YWY100410

or

Land Rover Discovery Series II Td5 and V8 Alarm Radio Remote Receiver YWY100440 | eBay YWY100440

or are they both compatible?

Thanks in advance!

only the second one fits... though, being used if it doesnt work you'll not know for certain that the receiver or some otrher thing is at fault...IMO in this area buying sh parts might be a false economy, my advice is to google out YWY000080 and bite the bullet... your choice

Hi all, just coming back to this one - annoyingly last night it started working again and allowed me to unlock/lock with the remote. However, this morning, it's gone again but of course the alarm has been set, so unlocking it with the key doesn't disable the alarm. PITA. Might just be a loose cable, but if I'm going through the effort of ripping the roof liner out, i might as well replace the unit.

Sieerafery states that I should look up YWY000080 - how does this differ to YWY100440? Happy to buy a new one, just want to be sure I get the right one!

Thanks all.

i have the same problem, one day it works fine next day stops working. heard earthing get rusty hence receiver stops working

YWY100440 is only the part number which was superseded by YWY000080, though as you didn't put your location in your profile it might be a different receiver if you live in a 315Mhz area

Ah ok, thanks. I'm in the UK (Channel Islands).

OK, I got to the unit and took it out. Earth looked dirty, so I cleaned the contact surfaces, the screw, and rolled a tube of sand paper and sanded inside the thread. Re-attached the receiver, and still nothing with either of the keys.

Is there a way of testing the unit itself before buying another?
it was the YWY100440 as you correctly suggested.

Might be worth making a new earth for it too, thinking about it.

TIA.

Disconnect the battery and remove the passenger compartment fusebox.Remove all the fuses in order and then take the grey plastic case off.Be careful with the circuit board, this is the IDM,(Intelligent driver module) which shares functionality with the body control unit. They are prone to water ingress resulting in problems like yours. If you can see water damage or green gunge on the circuit board you have probably found your problem.

you can't check that receiver unless you've got the scantooltool and the knowledge to test it in situ... I doubt that the problem is with the IDM cos usually it would cause more symptoms than only remote central locking issues but it's not excluded.... IMO go for a new receiver as it's the most common and if no joy with it then you can search for more complicated problems and a spare receiver is good anyway.

Thanks all. Yeah, I've ordered the receiver - last time I took it in for a service I asked the guy to see if he could see anything with the computer, but he said there wasn't anything coming from the receiver. I'm assuming the IDM might have come up with more if it was faulty.

Considering the sunroofs were leaking, I'm hoping it's just the receiver. I've ordered a new one, so we'll see if that solves it!

Was like putting my hand in a bucket of razorblades taking out the receiver - hands are shredded!

Just an update on this, swapped the receiver (YWY000080) over and it worked a treat. Back to being able to use the remote - woop!

Thanks for all the help!
