Interested to see this 'idler' habit - my 2000 TD5 had to have both idlers new this year (squealing like a pig one of them, t'other not much quieter), and the tensioner too. 200,000 miles probably due......

Fitted Britpart tensioner, had a 'snag' on the swivel movement within a few weeks, the belt was nearly jumping off!! LR part on very swiftly, and smooth as a smooth thing.... Ho hum. Lost the receipt for the first one, but couldn't frankly be a**ed with getting a refund anyway... A

The power of the search button, had a tensioner bearing go on xmas eve and managed to get one from the landy 30 mins before they shut. 3 replacement bearings ordered thanks to the details on this thread

I've just replaced the tensioner on mine and noticed play in the viscous fan bearing. Had a look at discovery2.co.uk and noticed the replacement bearing is an SKF 206A 2RS1TN9/C3MT33

Now Rimmer Bros, and Craddocks sell them as part number ERR 5285, for around £108 in c vat. Rimmers has the SKF part shown, which a quick google shows as around £26.50 plus vat. How can they justify the mark up ?

That's a quite normal difference cos genuine LR parts are usually 3-4 times the price of aftermarkets in most of the cases... how can they justify that huge difference? ...IMO they can't, a max 50% difference could be fair considering the high quality requirements for genuine parts

Thats one expensive LR box.... Ive bought the bearing new off The Bay now.. £27 delivered...
