I have a 2007 Td4 110XS bought last year when I moved to France from the UK and now I live half way up a mountain in the Pyrenees.

I now need to register my baby in France but to do this have to fit LHD headlights. With options from £50 to a few hundred for cheap LEDs I have no ideas what to put on. What I do know is the current lights are pretty awful driving up the 3 mile single track to the hamlet at night.

Any suggestions, I could run to £250 but don't want to waste money.

Many thanks,

Pete

I've got standard ones from paddocks, try putting some osram night searcher bulbs in and a 31" led light bar that comes on with your main beam, I think I paid forty quid for mine

where was the led light bar from, Paddocks as well? Looks bright enough for me together with the standard lenses. No pint in spending money you don't have to.

LED bar mounted on the bumper?

Thanks,

Pete

£36 for 24" 120W LED light bar, assume you just wire it into the high beam wire on one side and go from there. Decent bulbs plus new lenses should be bright enough for well under £100........

Might need to get ordering.

You can spend as much or as little as you want on headlights, and TBH it won't make much difference on dipped beam. The dipped beam visibility is limited by the beam pattern itself more than anything- the downward angle is a defined standard, and all brighter lights will do is make the same area brighter rather than improve your vision. You might get a somewhat sharper 'cutoff' with the projector-style lights, but that's about it.

I'd just go with a set of basic halogens in LHD-spec, and if you feel the high-beam range is lacking, add a light bar or a couple of spotlights wired into high beam (Marmaduke's light bar looks quite neat and unobtrusive :) ). The more expensive 'upgrades' seem more bling than anything else.

I think it's bigger than 24" and you really want to run it via a relay as opposed to direct through the main beam wiring, mine is actually wired via a switch on the dash so I can switch it on and off independently of the main beam

Thanks all, standard it is, plus 24" bar, that should be enough to start with. I don't do bling which is why I love the landy.

Now need to work out how to wire it in with a relay and switch. going to learn lots looking after her.

Search for relay wiring on Google.

Fused power from battery to relay(30), earth from relay to earth(85) take a cable from your main beam wire to the relay(86) and then a wire from the relay to the light bar(87) I think is the wiring.

I wired mine up this way and also wired another relay up but had a switch feed the relay (86)

Earth the light bar all done.

Relay loom on the way, headlights us ultima halogens I will be a busy bee this weekend, so long as it all arrives before I fly home on Friday.

Thanks for all the advice.

Will take before and after photos to see the difference in light.

Would have gone for those but couldn't find LHD ones. These are bright enough and with the light bar, if I can finish wiring it... just need to do the live connection but can't work out where to connect them.
