I have a 1994 200tdi one of the last. It needs a crank seal and the gearbox is qbit tight and has a little crunch and makes noises when im revving it hard off road. So when I pull the box out whats best another lt77 box or the later r380? I don' do loads of road miles but do do alot of off roading

I will be when mine gives up, had my lt77 rebuilt a few years ago due to lack of v8 r380 boxes but wish I'd searched harder!

I am now changing my box for r380 on my 92 discovery have just bought complete gearbox and transfer box from a 95 300tdi fitting over the weekend also bought the 300 gearbox crossmember as i noticed the mounts are set further outboard should keep everything steadier i will let you know how it goes

So you say the 2 mounts on the crossmember are slightly further apart? May have to get a crossmember to lol

looking at the 200 and 300 gearbox crossmember they are the same width, the crossmember to chassis mounting holes line up apart from one so the original mounts on the 300 gearbox should match the 300 crossmember. on the 200tdi the rubber mounts are underneath the boxes and quite close together. on the 300 the rubber mounts are wider apart almost out to the chassis i i hope this will stop a little of the rock n roll my only worry is exhaust clearance i'll let you know how i get on i now have the parts and will start sometime over weekend

cross member does indeed bolt to old mount holes and also uses some of 200 chassis cross member holes
