Hello all
Many years ago I had a MK 1 freelander which to be honest was a pig as LR hadn't sorted all the problems very well.
Could anyone let me know if the MK2 was any better or from which year they are worth looking at.

The Disco Sport is the latest Freelander ;)
Too early to tell how good it is at the moment...
 
Thanks for your comments I am in the market for a Landrover but as usual with me I don't know what to go for either another Freelander a 110 or maybe even a discovery it's a case of I don't need something as large as a 110 or disco but as I haven't owned either car so it would be nice to try something different, no doubt I will go to see one thing and come back with something completely different.

I had an early FL1 L series diesel and although I liked the car it was very slow with terrible brakes.
I now have a face lifted K series which is a bit quicker but no good for towing. Brakes are excellent though.

my one was also a diesel I never considered the K series because of the head problems they were prone to but I guess they got that sorted in the end.
 
I have but only one question: what is your budget and what do you want to use it for?
I have but only two questions: what is your budget and what do you want to use it for and what is your annual milage....

This I can answer, mainly on the road only 6 to 7 thousand miles a year plus some dirt tracks as I shoot a bit and I would like to try my hand at a bit of green laning, I am open to a different landrover type if needed

Well a fender is a very aquired taste for people that are used to proper cars with modern features like safety, comfort and heat. A disco is a happy medium and then the gaylander is a smaller option which is more car like with limited off road ability

would a disco 2 or 3 be a better option or what I mean is are there any real horror stories with either

Guess you haven't read the k series threads then. Only the ignorant, stupid or insane would buy a k series. As more than one of these apply to me. (Take your pick) i bought one.

Nice one, the K series is actually a good engine when it works my dad had one in his Caterham seven but then in only weighted the same as a FL door.

Unfortunately not. The DS is aimed at a different market sector. The price jump for base model takes it too high anorl. They wanted the track at Halewood to build the DS so the FL2 had to stop. On a size basis they're similar but some FL2 owners who regularly change for a new FL2 are put oft the DS. I guess in time peeps will consider it the FL3 but LR have said it's aimed at a different market.

it's a shame that they seem to have forgotten there original market, let's hope they don't bugger up the Defender replacement, they should do a back to basics in each of there lines so the driver has to decide when to engage the 4 wheels.
