Thanks theres a few on ebay but dont really want to take a chance on knackered one. will wait till the right one comes up.

I can well understand wanting to put back an engine of original spec but I think it would make more sense to source a 5 bearing engine if possible. A 1970 engine is probably 7:1 compression ratio, 8:1 would be betterer.

Just want somthing that will sit straight on chassis without having to move engine mounts ect, dont understand all this ratio stuff engines an engine to me as long as it goes and stops. without breaking down

the 3mb and 5mb are the same engine as far as mounting into the chassis are concerned. the only differences are internal. so in terms of your rebuild it will not matter which one you use so I would be choosing based on condition and availability.Just want somthing that will sit straight on chassis without having to move engine mounts ect, dont understand all this ratio stuff engines an engine to me as long as it goes and stops. without breaking down
