Hi Folk,

Just got a quote for £200 to replace my Master and Slave (ooh err:rolleyes:) So, looks like I'm going to tackle this one myself. Busters photo tour will be at hand :)

Advice please on which Master and Slave. Obviously not ****part, but is the £20 odd quid Lucus Girling one (and similar slave, i.e. Paddocks) up to the job or should I go genuine LR parts?

Also, can't find new peddle box gasgets? Do you make these up from some left over 'sticky back plastic', Blue Peter styley? Stuck/sealed with some household sealant?

Cheers in advance

Ye'll be fine enough with the lucas ones.. almost sure that's what came off mine.
try googlin' MUC7505 fur the pedal box to bulkhead gasket and 272819 fur the top cover gasket;)

lucus girling are OME parts and are what is fitted from new. they will last longer than anything else.

i have just fitted a new clutch to my series 3, and decided to fit a new slave cylinder at the same time even though there was nothing wrong with the old girling one, the new cylinder was a britpart, could not get enough movement on the pedal to disengage the clutch, tried adjusting everything, bleeding it ect, all to no avail, put the old girling one back on job done, cant believe everything britpart supply is total rubbish

Cheers for the links on gaskets.

Trying to pluck up the courage to got on with this job. Could you answer two worries for me;

1/ Keep comming up with threads including comment on the push rod, plastic clips and zip tieing the rod (but not the start of this conversation). Can't find any decent explanation on what this is about, or pictures. When I change the slave is it all going to go pair shaped with me rod dropping into the bell housing??. Doesn't the rod sit nice and snug inside the bell housing, on the end of the fork, and the slave just buts up against it when fitted in? A link to the source of these debates would be great. Will kee searchin

2/ There appear to be a few slave options for my 90. Any idea how to check I get the right one? (1994 300tdi, but vin suggests its a 95 model? MA) One site quotes to and from gearbox numbers, but can't locate mine.
