just starting out with offroading and greenlaning and im not really sure which cb rig to go for so if anyone has any suggestions then id love to hear them.

Midland radios offer best bang for buck, good range, extras and parts easily available. For good suppliers and model number see previous freds (quite a few).

All CB's are limited to 4w transmitter power, so performance is more influenced by the aerial & mounting. Rig choice comes down to whats important to you, for most of us green-laning, simple & rugged rather than feature packed, so cheaper ones work well enough, & you tend to get better quality radio electrics with fewer 'features'.... but see link. Midland, Maycom, Cobra, TTi are the more common 'reputable' brands, Midland probably the most popular. I wouldn't touch the Maplin offering tbh, but its cheap enough, works OK & its easy to find a shop.....

I have had a cheapy and it didn't like the offroading action too much the vibrtation killed it after a couple of years I paid out a bit more for a midland alan 121 and has taken all the abuse I can throw at it
