Ive asked my mechanic to change my cam belt on my 1996 300tdi 110, and he's asked me to order the parts for him, along with a few other bits I want changing at the same time. I was wondering if any particular brands are OEM or worth buying for the following parts....

Cam belt kit (isn't there one with a shoulder on the pulley to stop belt sliding off?)
Adjuster for alternator belt.
Auxillary belt
Rocker cover gasket
Water pump
Fuel filter
Brass cooling system bleed screws (to replace the plastic ones)

Cheers

both the can belt set ups have a pulley with shoulders to guide belt the later one with the crank pulley that has and not the tensioner is what you want
you mean belt tensioner
lr never made a brass plug so it has to be aftermarket
put a g after the number it will give you oem choices

Cam belt kit (isn't there one with a shoulder on the pulley to stop belt sliding off?) Go for OEM on this, mine was dayco I think STC4096L should be the modified one I think
Adjuster for alternator belt. Pass
Auxillary belt Go dayco or OEM again, I had a bearmach one and it lasted 6 months before cracking
Rocker cover gasket- Bearmach or Allmakes unless OEM isn't much more
Water pump- It is a pain to change and something fundamental to the engine, so go for OEM
Fuel filter- Doesn't matter I don't think
Brass cooling system bleed screws (to replace the plastic ones)- I got X Eng aluminium ones as I was feeling flash at the time

If you put a "g" at the end of the part number on paddocks website you should be presented with a genuine part, if they sell one.

Yes, and if you say "not Britpart please" they look at you like you just poked their cat up the ass
+1 :D
I bought a *hitpart drivers window regulator from them, and went to collect it (I was desperate!) - the parts guy said - "can you weld?", and then told me where the regulators break !! I am still not sure what to make of the implications - but I am grateful he told me.....o_O

(I welded it where advised)

G = to oe spec

The britpart cambelt kits are actually quite good, daycpo belt, Ive fitted three and mate has done a couple no issues so far.

The Britpart OEM cambelt kit I had for my 300tdi from adventure 4x4 had a dayco belt and INA tensioner and idler. Which is what comes out the factory I believe. Very well priced off eBay too!
