Afternoon all.
300tdi 110 HT 1997
My alternator has noisy bearings and I would like to either replace them or the whole unit. But I seem to be going round in circles about which type I have. Any guidance much appreciated.

Not hard to check and overhaul an alternator but you do need to be able to solder. Vid's covering most types on the you tube. "Rotating electrics Cookstown" I find a good parts suppliers.

There should be a label on it some where or markings on the regulator under the rear cover that will give the output. 65 amp is pretty standard on a 300.

a127, 300 have the posher version, 200 and earlier have lower amp ratings from 45 to 70.

Thanks both. Had a quick look but no external labels, I shall have a closer look where I finally get the TB front output bearing replaced. Being a bit of a nightmare for the last two days!

Are you sure that it is bearing noise, contaminated drive belt, particularly with antifreeze can cause some particularly horrendous noises.

I did put on a new belt and tensioner recently, as it was due, but noise is still there. Still trying to get the TB front hosuing back on!!!
