hello people

I think my a-frame ball joint needs changing, but basically I'm wondering which one you would all recommend, or keep well away from please???

I'm going to be turning my disco not an off roader so I want one that can take articulation as well as possible

Thanks in advance

How much have u lifted it or planing to lift it. I have a 4" lift with the standard a frame and I don't think it affects the articulation. But I no u can get different ones for exstreem stuff.

I'm going 2" lift for now but with long shocks and some 4xforce rear arms but I was going to leave the a-frame on for now and see how much it gives me. I was wondering if there were different makes that were known for been very reliable/ unreliable

Cheers

Nope I haven't, but I may have a go at replacing the ball joint dust cover as mine is split, only one 30mm nut to undo, but then I could get someone to do. :)

Replacing just the ball joint will require a hefty press according to the video on U Tube, much easier to replace the ball joint along with its fulcrum, just three nuts to undo plus two bolts to push out, though maybe not... if you have to lay on your back to do it.

I've never found it a problem, lying on my back to work on a Landy.
Getting up the next morning is getting trickier though!

What discool said. I changed mine a couple of years back, absolute pain in the ass. Change it all and save yourself a massive headache.

Yeah I've changed them before, it's usually handy to have the gas bottles handy haha. Just wondering on good/bad makes and places to get them really

Cheers

Eldest son has just done his A-frame ball joint and bushes for the arm.

Easiest option is to buy the joint with the mounting casting already on, as mentioned above, then it's just getting the joint out of the axle side casting. DA1129 should cover it.

Worth buying all new bolts etc as the old ones are invariably rusted to hell.

Cheers for that

Has anyone had anything to do with the higher articulating ones

Thanks again

Yes changed them all on my RRC
Get the whole assembly and axle looked the easier way forwards to me, fairly easy to strip it all then.
Get genuine parts for the wel leveller as the Brit parts are the wrong size.
