Hi I have recently bought a 1996 Disco Mk1 300tdi which I have fallen in love with. (The wife isnt speaking to me! Not a bad Thing!) The only thing that I am in the process of changing is the A bar, as the one that came with it was a bit of a mess. Any ideas which A bar looks the part. There seems to plenty on the market.

the invisible one is the best. after all what good is a piece of moulded plastic that makes it awkward to open the bonnet ;)

Hi yella. nice to speak to you. have read quite a few posts on here and you certainly seem to offer good advice. I have taken the A bar off before it fell off and I think the front looks pretty damn good although could do with a decent bumper on the front. My only problem is and dont laugh too loud!!! The wife..the one who is not speaking to me at the mo cos im in love with my disco liked the a bar that much she wants to buy me another!!! (something has to be up!) Now this is an offer i cant refuse!

Go the whole hogg and remove the bumper aswell, really bog her off, and fit an early RR bumper, Paint it yella and take her for a day offroading.
Keep her quiet for weeks.( the wife that is)
Ps Welcome

hehe tempting!!!...but come on guys..shes offering to pay for an a bar or should I try and raise the stakes with an integrated winch and front bumper! Just out of interest are there many lady landy lovers on this site? dont want to fall out with all of the ladies!

please don't put an a bar on it, its the worst looking accessory ever made, its completely pointless and on the whole totally useless ;)

yella you know what im going to take your advice. The only problem that I have now, is that the front bumper doesnt look right. Is there a front bumper that looks the part. Mine now has holes in it and looks wrong somehow. Oh and another problem...where the hell do I put some spots! fancied one of those pod things with four spots but my disco is a metallic green colour and dont know if they would match up colourwise. Help me get this disco right. Im in love with it big time!!!

WHY? Wot d yer mean, Dont yer think i look pretty enough:(

sorry to butt in but a bonnet pod !! they are ugly, im after a stainless steel a bar for me spots, but even the moulded plastic are ok to hang lights on mines a 91 disco,:)

as said before the moulded plastic ones also look ****e and make it awkward to open your bonnet ;)

Thanks for all of the advice. Yella you almost had me persuaded to do without the a-bar but im greedy and if the wife offers to pay for something im sorry but I have to take the money! Got myself an a-bar just need to fit it and then get some good spots. Pics will follow at some stage!

don't forget to buy a big box of plasters and a wrist support cos every time you try to open your bonnet from now on, the tacky plastic a bar will rip the skin off the back of your hand and you will sprain your wrist trying to undo the bonnet catch.................. and don't say i didn't warn you ;)

lol. Ive bought one of the metal tubular type that sit slightly away from the body so knuckles should remain intact! Wife has promised to bandage any open wounds!!
