Hi everyone

I have been looking through the threads for clues to if my 1997/98 Disco has got a spider and if so where is it? Want to fix the bypass connector to avoid trouble in the future.

Sorry to go over old ground but couldn't find an answer.

Would really appreciate the help cos I live in France and there is only one very greedy Landy garage in my region.

Cheers

I have read the 'definitive alarm spider post' already! I took my dash apart and there was no spider! I cant see it any where under the steering wheel or behind/underneath the dashboard.

Does it look different on a Discovery 300 TDI 2.5 Estate 1997/98? Or does it just not exist?

Thanks

spiders weren't always fitted to R reg discovery 300's depends on build date

My spider lives in the bottom left corner of the windscreen.
I call him Boris.

heres where you should find the spider unit and what it takes to get to it. i took me about an hour and a half start to finnish :)

Assuming it's got one fitted. & not all of em have. Robin's int got one and his is an R Reg disscovery.

Have a look at the back of the injection pump - see can you see the stop solenoid .
If you can see the stop solenoid you should have a spider ; if there is a lump of black plastic with a few wires going into it covering the stop solenoid you , don't think you have a spider.
Not very technical I know but when my sisters 98 Tdi had starting problems I found out that much . I had to take off the black plastic lump which apparently is part of the immob system and controls the feed to the stop solenoid .
Took me ages to get it removed - then wired stop sol direct and its fine since .
Hope this helps .

Should be a small black box IIRC. About 10cm / 4 inch square?

When I did mine I used the link that Discool posted, and found it no problem. As others have said, maybe yours has been removed in the past, or never even fitted?
